Bee-You-Tee-Full........

Not much more really needs to be said. These 'lil critter's, if you've ever had the [very rare] opportunity to drive one....VERY light weight & down-right "peppy"!
These cars tipped the scale at maybe 2600 pounds wet & probably around 140hp from the 2L engine. The trans was a 5-speed manual. I recall it seeming odd to me having 5 gears in a small car like that in it's time period. My '76 280Z only had a 4-speed, so the 5-speed grabbed my attention.
Engine was OHC w/3 side-draft carbs. Being a Japanese car, probably Mikuni's. This was in the latter 70's & I was a teen, whose pulse went to about 180bpm when offered a ride. I think it pretty much stopped dead when he asked if I wanted to drive on the way back from our little ride. The car belonged to a neighbor's son who was about 8-10 years older than I & was very successful in the family's real estate business.
Driving a car like that left a permanent imprint in my memory that I don't think could ever be lost. The closest I ever got of my own was my '76 280Z & was a direct result of the experience I got that day in Corky's 2000GT!!!
Sure would love to do it all over again if he still has that thing, but "life" happens & takes people in different directions. Havn't seen or heard from him in over 20 years now. I went into the Army after graduating & enjoyed seeing a number of different places around the world. After his parent's passed, a few years later he shut-down or sold the realty company & headed west to Utah I think, & after that really lost track.
The driving opportunity I got,...through the years I've come to realize was MUCH greater than I ever realized at that given time. I've NEVER seen another one of these cars, but because of the gift I got behind the wheel of Corky's car I developed a great fondness for 2-seater's & have had several since.
A person may not realize the impact a singular event can have at the time when it actually happens, but years down the road when you are able to reflect & truly appreciate each minute as special it can mean the world. I guess that age old adage of "Had I known then...what I know now........................."!!! {Add your own memory there}
No other comments at this given time, but to those who may follow & pass by.......Blue Skies & Moonshine!!!
